When it comes to fishing, the gem of Vancouver Island is the Swiftsure Bank near Port Renfrew. The summer season promises abundant catches of large Chinook Salmon up to 60 pounds and plenty of Halibut. Typically, during this season our boat leaves the marina at 6:00am and we travel for approximately one hour up the coast enjoying such sights as the rugged coastline and the Carmanah lighthouse, often seeing whales on the way. Upon arrival at “The Bank” the fun begins as anglers enjoy the diversity of this bountiful offshore hotspot. Normally half of the day is spent targeting Halibut and bottom fish and the other half reeling in Chinook and Coho Salmon, with limit catches in all species common. Arriving back at the dock mid to late afternoon J.R. will clean and bag your catch and wish a farewell until next time!
